Music, as I'm sure you might have guess by now (or maybe not) Music Is My Life.
I know that a lot of people say that, and in each way they are right. Music is as much other people's lives as it is mine. I am just arrogant and opinionated in thinking that I am more serious about it than someone else.
What I mean by this is that I tend to look down on people who like ONLY one type of music. Especially, I must admit, late 90's music. I can't stand it. I honestly can't. It's so repulsive to me that I can't bear to listen to it. Early 90's through the early 1600's is more preferable than late 90's.
I must admit I am very partial to classical and baroque music. I am even a little bit fond of Early Romantic style.
I have been studying piano for almost 3 years now. Wow. It doesn't seem that long. It seems to me that I am hardly making any progress now, even though my teacher is constantly amazed. I set high standards for myself and then bash myself when I don't meet them. (I'm sure a couple of you out there know what that's like.)
A fairly new fascination of mine is singing. I am taking voice lessons and a summer choir (as well as piano) and I am loving it. The voice teacher (also my choir teacher) is teaching me a few techniques that will come in handy and helping me to improve my voice. I am thinking I will pursue light operatic or perhaps Broadway since I like acting. At the moment I am working on a Grieg piece for the State Solo and Ensemble contest next year during choir.
If you share my love of music, even if its the type of music that I professed to hate, please don't hesitate to send me an email or IM or message of any kind. I am always willing to learn more about music. Who knows? One of you might actually convince me that there is a redeeming feature to Late 1990's music. =)
Some of my favorite Composers and their most famous pieces.
